  Opzione cartolarizzata, quotata nei mercati borsistici primari, che attribuisce il diritto di comprare o vendere una determinata attività finanziaria ad un determinato prezzo e ad una data stabilita. Ai warrants può essere collegata a un titolo azionario, a un indice di borsa o a una commodity.
  Il covered Warrant è uno strumento finanziario che attribuisce al portatore il diritto, ma non l'obbligo, di acquistare ( call warrant ) o di vendere ( put warrant ) l'attività finanziaria sottostante, a condizioni prestabilite, entro una certa data ( warrant di tipo americano ) o a una certa data ( warrant di tipo europeo ). L'attività finanziaria sottostante può avere per oggetto tanto azioni, quanto indici, tassi d'interesse o di cambio. I covered warrant , a differenza dei warrant , non prevedono alla scadenza la consegna delle azioni a cui sono legati, ma il pagamento in denaro del differenziale tra il prezzo di mercato effettivamente raggiunto e il prezzo di esercizio del sottostante stabilito al momento dell'emissione del covered.
  Titolo emesso da una istituzione bancaria avente oggetto azioni, indici o valute, dante il diritto di acquisto ( Call ) o di vendita ( Put ) ad un prezzo prestabilito ( prezzo di esercizio o base ) entro una prefissata scadenza.
